SkillProof is an AI-powered hiring assessment platform. This policy explains what information we collect, why we need it, and how you can control it.

Information We Collect

Employer accounts

  • Email address – used for password-free login
  • Stripe billing details – handled by Stripe, not stored by us

Candidates

  • Name and email – to send assessment invites
  • Assessment answers, time spent per question, and confidence ratings – to score and report results

Technical data

  • Session cookies – to keep you logged in
  • Basic analytics – page views, browser type, anonymised IP – to improve the site

How We Use the Data

  • Create and manage your account
  • Deliver and score assessments
  • Email essential updates (invites, results, billing)
  • Improve performance and fix bugs
  • Display relevant advertising and measure ad performance
  • Build audience segments for marketing campaigns

Third-Party Services

We share only what is strictly necessary with:

  • Stripe – payment processing
  • Resend – transactional email
  • Groq – generates assessment questions; no candidate data is sent
  • Vercel – hosting and storage
  • Google Ads / Analytics – advertising, conversion tracking, and site analytics
  • Meta (Facebook / Instagram) – advertising and conversion tracking
  • LinkedIn – advertising and conversion tracking

Advertising partners may collect device identifiers, IP addresses, and browsing behaviour through cookies and tracking pixels on our marketing pages. Candidate assessment data is never shared with advertising platforms.

Data Retention

  • Employer data: kept while the account is active; deleted within 30 days of closure
  • Candidate data: kept for 12 months after the assessment closes, then deleted unless a longer retention is required by law

Cookies & Tracking

We use the following types of cookies and similar technologies:

  • Essential – session cookie to keep you logged in (expires when you close the browser)
  • Analytics – Google Analytics to understand how the site is used (up to 12 months)
  • Advertising – cookies and tracking pixels from Google, Meta, and LinkedIn to serve relevant ads, build retargeting audiences, and measure conversions (up to 12 months)

You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. You can also opt out of personalised advertising through Your Online Choices (EU/UK) or DAA opt-out (US). Blocking cookies may affect some features.

Your Rights

Wherever you are located, you have the right to:

  • Access – request a copy of the data we hold about you
  • Correction – update inaccurate information
  • Deletion – ask us to erase your data (subject to legal limits)
  • Export – receive your data in a portable format

For California residents (CCPA)

If you are a California resident, you have the right to know what personal information we collect, request its deletion, and opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information. We do not sell personal information in the traditional sense, but our use of advertising cookies may constitute “sharing” under the CCPA. You can opt out of this by disabling advertising cookies in your browser or using the opt-out links above. Candidate assessment data is never sold or shared with advertisers.

For UK and EEA residents (GDPR)

If you are in the UK or European Economic Area, you have additional rights under the GDPR including the right to restrict processing and the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

Security

Data is encrypted in transit (HTTPS) and at rest. Servers are patched regularly and access is limited to authorised staff.
